The 61-year-old woman from Chevy Chase won a $50,000 lottery scratch-off jackpot for the third time since August 2018, according to Maryland Lottery officials. This year, the woman, who wished to remain anonymous, bought two $5 Lucky scratch-offs. The first ticket was not a winner but the second one was the big winner.

In August 2018 she won $50,000 playing the $50,000 Bonus Cash game, lottery officials said. Two months later, she won another $50,000 playing a Cash Craze Doubler instant ticket.

What makes the retired housekeeper’s winnings even more remarkable is that she bought all three winning tickets at the same retailer, Talbert’s Ice & Beverage Service in Bethesda, lottery officials said in a news release.

“I just didn’t believe it, again!” the woman said in a statement. “When I saw that message, ‘See Lottery,’ I just left immediately and scratched off the rest of the ticket in the car.”

After regaining her composure, the woman said she called her best friend to share the news.

“When she told me, I was so happy for her,” the woman’s friend, who also wished to remain anonymous, told lottery officials. “It was hard to believe that she won $50,000 again.”

The winner said she would use her latest windfall for home improvements. Meanwhile, Talbert’s Ice & Beverage Service will receive a $500 bonus for selling the winning ticket -- again.

“People play every day and not win,” the lottery winner said in a statement. “It’s amazing that I won three times.”
