Time 100: Fauci, Megan Thee Stallion, Dwyane Wade make list of world’s most influential people

Time magazine on Tuesday unveiled its 17th annual list of the world’s 100 most influential people, which includes immunologist Dr. Anthony Fauci, rapper Megan Thee Stallion, actress Gabrielle Union and athlete Dwyane Wade.

The 2020 Time 100 “looks far different” than lists from previous years, the magazine’s CEO and editor in chief, Edward Felsenthal, said in a statement.

“The Time 100 has always been a mirror of the world and those who shape it,” he said. “While you will certainly find people who wield traditional power on this year’s list — heads of state, CEOs, major entertainers — it also includes many extraordinary, lesser-known individuals who seized the moment to save lives, build a movement, lift the spirit, repair the world. ... Their work challenges each of us to wield our own influence toward a world that is healthier, more resilient, more sustainable and just.”

Eight covers highlight notable members of the list, including one each for Fauci, Megan Thee Stallion, the Weeknd, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, New York nurse Amy O’Sullivan, and Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen, according to a news release. In addition, Union and Wade, who are married, share a cover, while Black Lives Matter founders Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi share another.
