Tennessee police officer comforts man in need, gives him new shoes, shirt

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A Tennessee police officer went beyond the call of duty Thursday, showing kindness to a man in need.

According to a social media post by the Knoxville Police Department, Officer Dana Crocker helped one distraught man who appeared to be crying in a parking lot, WBIR reported. The police department took a post from the “I Love Fountain City!” Facebook group.

The name of the person who posted was marked out, but Crocker’s deed shone through.

“This photo may not look like much, but what you are seeing is a man without shoes and a dirty shirt,” the poster wrote. “He was sobbing in the parking lot.

“Right as I made up my mind to see what I could do to help, this police officer pulled in and gave him a pair of shoes and a new shirt.”

Crocker also chatted with the man, WBIR reported.

The Knoxville Police Department shared a post about it on its Twitter and Facebook accounts Thursday.

“This was a wonderful thing to witness in the world we live in today,” the Facebook poster wrote. “It also gave me a moment with my kids to teach compassion and a lesson on the choices we make in life.”
