James “Tim” Norman, 43, was convicted of two federal murder-for-hire counts and one count of conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

According to Deadline, the jury concluded that Norman hired two people to kill his nephew, 21-year-old Andre Montgomery, on March 14, 2016.

The panel also determined that Norman later tried to cash a $450,000 life-insurance policy taken out on his nephew months before the murder, the Post-Dispatch reported.

Prosecutors argued at trial that Norman paid an exotic dancer $10,000 to lure Montgomery to the murder site and that the reality star paid another man $5,000 to kill Montgomery, Deadline reported.

Both the dancer and the alleged shooter testified against Norman, according to CNN.

Norman’s sentencing is slated for Dec. 15, when he faces the possibility of serving life imprisonment, Deadline reported.

“Mr. Norman’s crimes were motivated by greed and while the evidence was voluminous and overwhelming, Mr. Norman’s plan was relatively straightforward,” U.S. Attorney Sayler Fleming told CNN following the verdict.

“(Norman) fraudulently obtained life insurance in the amount of $450,000 on his nephew, Andre Montgomery, without Mr. Montgomery’s knowledge, he then used a paramour to locate Mr. Montgomery and a co-defendant to fatally shoot and kill him. Within days of his nephew’s murder, Mr. Norman started the process of getting the insurance company to pay the claim,” Fleming added.

According to Deadline, “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s” chronicled Robbie Montgomery – Norman’s mother and Montgomery’s grandmother – and those who helped her run a string of Sweetie Pie’s soul-food restaurants.

Both Norman and Montgomery were featured prominently during the show’s nine-season run that ended in 2018, the entertainment news site reported.
