Andrea Lea Wilson, of Bentonville, pleaded guilty on Monday to first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, aggravated assault and third-degree battery in connection with the May 2018 death of 80-year-old Ruby Ross, KNWA reported.

After serving the 36-year sentence, Wilson will also serve a 10-year suspended sentence.

According to a plea deal, Wilson admitted visiting her grandmother on May 15, 2018, KFSM reported. After they ate dinner together, Ross went to sleep, according to court documents. Wilson then struck her grandmother four times with a hammer, the television station reported.

Court documents also state that Wilson believed God told her she needed to make a sacrifice or she would be sent to hell, KNWA reported.

On the day Ross was murdered, Wilson unsuccessfully tried to run over a man riding a bicycle, according to court documents.

Jonathan Hampton was crossing the street at a crosswalk at 1:42 a.m. CDT when he was struck from behind by a vehicle driven by Wilson, KNWA reported.

According to court documents, Wilson told police she attempted to run over Hampton in an effort to make her “sacrifice to God,” but was unsuccessful.

Wilson later went to Ross’ home and concealed the hammer in a garbage bag before using the tool to strike her grandmother, KFSM reported.

Wilson has undergone several mental evaluations, the television station reported. She told authorities she was not taking her prescribed lithium at the time of both offenses.
