Russia had claimed that the maternity hospital was a base for Ukrainian extremists and held no patients or medics. Russia has called the images from the bombing “fake news,” the AP reported.

Medical workers said that as they tried to save her and her baby, she had said “Kill me now!” when she found out that her baby was not going to survive, the AP reported.

The woman had extensive injuries like a crushed pelvis and detached hip. The baby was delivered by cesarean section but did not survive.

The medical team tried to save the mother, but she died.

Two men who said they were her husband and father claimed the woman’s remains, supposedly so she would not be buried in a mass grave, the AP reported.
