The recall affects some Toyota 2009 through 2015 models.

The company said the Supplemental Restraint System’s wiring could be damaged on the driver-side door with repeated use and the damage could cause the airbag sensor to not work, preventing the side and curtain airbags on the driver’s side to not deploy in a crash, the NHTSA reported.

The recall is expected to begin May 31. Owners of the vehicles will be contacted and dealers will inspect the wire harness and replace it if necessary for free.
