Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor are working together to help write the next installment of the “Legally Blonde” franchise.
MGM’s upcoming screenplay of “Legally Blonde 3″ will be written by Mindy Kaling, who wrote and produced “The Mindy Project” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” with co-creator Dan Goor.
Kaling confirmed the news on Twitter Tuesday morning.
So excited to be reunited with my friends @ReeseW, Lauren Neustadter and @djgoor to work on this movie. Elle Woods is so iconic, proving you can be girly and smart at the same time. Bend and snap people! https://t.co/zOC3WCckjN via @Deadline

Reese Witherspoon will be reprising her role as the iconic attorney, Elle Woods, according to Deadspin.
In 2018, Witherspoon confirmed that a third film was in the works. The announcement came with a short video of Witherspoon wearing a sparkly pink bikini and floating in a pool. “Legally Blonde” fans might recognize the bikini from the first film in the franchise.

“Legally Blonde” premiered in America in July 2001. Based on a novel of the same name by Amanda Brown, the film was a critical success. It was followed in 2003 by “Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.” A musical based on both the book and the 2001 film premiered on Broadway in 2007.
