Jail records show police arrested Thomas Brown on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His arrest came after authorities got several 911 calls reporting that a man armed with a knife had threatened to slit a girl’s throat around 3:30 p.m., KFDX-TV reported.

Brown told police the incident began after he got a call from his daughter saying that classmates who had been bullying her were chasing her near Wichita Falls High School, according to KAUZ-TV. Brown said he has been in contact with the school’s principal to try to stop the alleged bullying, the news station reported.

Brown met his daughter at a nearby intersection and decided to confront her classmates, according to KAUZ.

He told investigators that he went up to the girls and told them that he would slit their throats if they touched his daughter, KFDX reported. After some back-and-forth, he pulled out a pocket knife and held it about six inches from the neck of one of the girls, KAUZ reported, citing an arrest affidavit.

Authorities found Brown in the area while responding to 911 calls about the incident. When approached by an officer, Brown said he believed he was going to jail, according to KFDX. He gave the officer his pocket knife when asked if he had a weapon, the news station reported.

Jail records show Brown was released Friday on a $10,000 bond.
