In a video posted Sunday evening, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey revealed what led up to the death of Deputy Austin Walsh, 23, on Saturday, according to WFTV.

Ivey said that the situation seemed to be an accidental shooting during an incident between Walsh and his roommate, Andrew Lawson, who is also a fellow deputy. Walsh and Lawson were playing an online game with friends, according to WFTV. Ivey said they took a break.

During the break, Ivey said Lawson reportedly “jokingly pointed” a handgun at Walsh. He thought that the handgun was not loaded when he pulled the trigger, according to WFTV.

Lawson reportedly called 911 and was completely distraught. He told them he accidentally killed his roommate, according to WFTV.

According to WFTV, a single round was fired.

Ivey said in the video posted on BCSO’s Facebook that Lawson was fully cooperative in the investigation. Earlier in the day Sunday, Ivey said that Lawson was taken into custody by agents of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for manslaughter.

The investigation is ongoing. No further information has been released.
