Emmy nominations announced, ‘Watchmen’ leads pack

The 2020 Emmy nominations have been announced, and HBO’s “Watchmen” leads the pack of shows vying for the awards with 26 nominations.

But it was Netflix that lead the group of networks, having the most nominations for the 72nd Emmy Awards, breaking a record, The New York Times reported.

New to the streaming game, Disney+ had a surprise nomination in the “The Mandalorian,” taking a spot in the best drama category as did Apple TV+ with nominations for two stars of “The Morning Show,” the Times reported.

The nominations were announced by Emmy host Leslie Jones and presenters Josh Gad, Tatiana Maslany and Laverne Cox.

The awards will be handed out Sept. 20.
