1 dead, 7 injured after shooting at Iowa biker bar, police say

WATERLOO, Iowa — A chaotic scene unfolded Saturday night when gunfire erupted at an Iowa biker bar killing at least one person and injuring seven others, police said.

About 100 people were gathered outside of a building when a confrontation started around 3 a.m., Waterloo police said.

Officers at a nearby traffic stop were on scene shortly after the shooting started. When they arrived they found several people injured and others leaving the area.

Firefighters arrived shortly after and helped administer medical aid to victims.

“It was a pretty dynamic scene,” said Battalion Chief Ben Petersen with Waterloo Fire Rescue. “Coming into something like that, you are trying to size up the patients and triage the scene.”

Eight people were injured by gunfire, one died. Another four people were injured by broken glass or debris while they tried to leave the area.

No arrests have been made in the shooting.

Three people were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct outside of a hospital where some of the victims were taken.
