JEFFERSON TWP. — UPDATE @ 3:54 p.m.
Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer said in a release it’s believed James Brunner was waiting for an RTA bus when he was fatally struck on U.S. 35.
The driver left the scene, but was later located in New Lebanon.
The 32-year-old woman was questioned and released pending further investigation. She had been driving a bronze 2002 Saturn Vue.
The crash remains under investigation to determine who was at fault and if Brunner was in the roadway.

The pedestrian struck by the vehicle has died at Miami Valley Hospital. He was identified as James Brunner, 59, of Trotwood. No last known address.

U.S. 35 in Jefferson Twp. has reopened to traffic after being closed to accommodate a sheriff’s office investigation into a hit-and-run pedestrian strike.
Deputies said more details from the investigation will be released later today.

Montgomery County deputies have located and seized the vehicle that is believed to have struck a pedestrian this morning on U.S. 35.
The vehicle — a beige Saturn SUV — was found parked at a home in the 200 block of Lawson Avenue in New Lebanon.
The SUV shows damages to the passenger-side quarter panel, the windshield is busted and the passenger-side rearview mirror is missing.
Deputies were arranging to tow the vehicle away. Deputies spoke to the owner of the vehicle, who lives at the home.
It’s unclear whether the owner of the vehicle is being detained.

Law enforcement across Montgomery County have been notified to be on the lookout for a sport utility vehicle that struck a pedestrian, causing serious injuries, and fleeing the scene on U.S. 35 in Jefferson Twp.
According to county-wide dispatches, The suspect vehicle is either a Chevy S-10 Blazer or a GMC Jimmy with passenger-side and front-end damage. The vehicle, described as pewter-colored, is missing the passenger-side rearview mirror, according to the dispatches.

The person who called 9-1-1 to report a man being struck by a vehicle on U.S. 35 this morning had seen the same man on prior mornings standing at a nearby bus stop.
That’s according to the 9-1-1 record we just received from the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center.
The caller told the dispatcher the man appears to have been hit by a car, but there was no car around.
The 9-1-1 caller reported seeing debris in the roadway left from the impact. She told the dispatcher the middle-aged man had labored breathing. She said normally she sees the same man standing at a bus stop nearby.
U.S. 35 remains shut down in the 9300 block, Jefferson Twp. Law enforcement continues to investigate the crash.
Deputies and medics have been dispatched to reports of a person hit by a car in the 9300 block of U.S. 35 in Jefferson Township.
Crews were dispatched on a reported pedestrian strike around 7:10 a.m. that occurred near Snickers Bar and Restaurant on U.S. 35.
Scanner traffic from the scene indicates both lanes of U.S. 35 are shut down at North Lutheran Church Road.
The condition of the victim was not immediately known.
