The CEOs of 10 Ohio regional economic development organizations, including the Dayton Development Coalition, signed a letter to President Biden in support of Ohio’s renewed bid to bring the U.S. Space Command to the state.

“As your administration considers the location of space-related defense organizations that conduct research, testing, and military operations, we want to remind you of the rich heritage of Ohio’s support for space as well as its current assets that can advance a wide range of space-related national security missions,” the organizations said.

Ohio’s Congressional Delegation also released a letter supporting the relocation to Ohio. Among those include Senator Sherrod Brown and Ohio Representatives David Joyce, Marcy Kaptur, Max Miller, Joyce Beatty, Shontel Brown, Emilia Sykes, and Greg Landsman.

They are each calling on the Biden Administration to choose Wright-Patterson Air Force Base at the headquarters of the U.S. Space Command.

“From the Wright brothers to American heroes like John Glenn and Neil Armstrong, the story of modern aviation is rooted in Ohio – and Ohio is ready to meet the challenges of the future,” the lawmakers wrote. “Ohio’s numerous industry and university partners in the state create a synergy around national security and space that is unmatched around the country.”
