Ohio man indicted for killing father, staging home invasion as cover-up

COLUMBUS — A 20-year-old man accused of killing his father and staging a home invasion to cover up the incident was indicted on four counts by the Franklin County Grand jury.

At approximately 7 a.m. June 22, police and medics were dispatched to the 7900 block of Schleppi Road on a report of shots fired. Investigators believe Jonah Bryce Lake killed his father, Dr. Kevin B. Lake, 51, then staged a home invasion to cover it up, our partners at WBNS report.

Jonah Lake was indicted on one count of aggravated murder with a firearm specification, two counts of murder with firearm specifications and one count of tampering with evidence.

"Not only did this young man murder his father, but he staged a home invasion in their New Albany area home in order to avoid detection," Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said.

Earlier in 2018, Dr. Lake pleaded guilty in Federal Court to fraud, tax evasion and drug charges. Between 2006 and 2013, Dr. Lake maintained the Columbus Southern Medical Center Clinic which provided unlawful prescriptions of controlled substances to addicts, WBNS reports.

Arraignment for Jonah Lake will be scheduled within a week.
