Today’s near record cold temperatures will give way to sunny conditions Friday, but snow is in the weekend forecast.

Friday morning will bring cold temperatures around 20 and even upper teens in some locations, but winds will be light throughout the day while Dayton will receive some much needed sun, according to Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson. “Tomorrow is a different day … we’ll see a lot of sun,” Simpson said. “Saturday will be a sunny day until some point in the afternoon, then some high clouds will roll in.”

Warmer temperatures around 40 are expected Saturday.

The latest computer forecast models show snow on Sunday, up to 4 inches of it, but road conditions may not be a problem until that evening, when temperatures fall below freezing.

“It will be a wet snow and with afternoon highs just above freezing, we may even see roads in pretty good shape for a part of the day,” Simpson said. “It also may get warm enough for a little rain to mix in southeast of Dayton for a period of time midday or early afternoon.”
