Evidence obtained by police shows a bike, operated by Jacqulynn North, 20, of Sidney, had a tire get stuck in a crack or rut in the pavement, police told News Center 7′s James Rider. That caused North to go directly into the path of the semitrailer, investigators said.

North died from her injuries later at Miami Valley Hospital.

The driver of the semitrailer did not stop at the scene of the crash because he was unaware he hit anyone, investigators said.

Additional details were not released.

FIRST REPORT (July 30):

A woman struck by a semi while riding her bicycle on Michigan Street in Sidney Tuesday has died from her injuries.

Sidney police had put out a request for the public’s help in identifying the semi truck that hit North and left the scene. The department said Thursday it had now identified the truck.
