Large police patrols — five or more officers — are making rounds throughout downtown, and not just near the convention site, Quicken Loans Arena.

In light of the tragic events in the past few days — such as in Baton Rouge, La. and Nice, France — and others recently in the country, officials brought in snowplows to help block off streets, in addition to fences and about four miles of concrete barricades.

News Center 7’s John Bedell is working on this story today, and will bring you updates on the security measures throughout the day.
