Voters pass Miami Valley Fire District levy

Miamisburg and Miami Township residents voted Tuesday on an 11-mill property tax levy that would increase revenue for the Miami Valley Fire District.

Ultimately, voters chose to pass the levy.

The fire district says the measure will eliminate all current fire-related tax levies in the city and township and replace them with the new 11 mills continuous levy, which is projected to last 10 to 15 years.

According to the district, the levy will assist in hiring new employees, opening and operating all five fire stations, upgrading equipment and fire/EMS vehicles and potentially building new fire stations.

The Miami Valley Fire District estimates that the tax will cost someone $385 annually for every $100,000 in home value.
