PHOENIX — An Arizona woman is accused of punching her son when he failed to be a good lookout for his grandmother, who was allegedly shoplifting at a Walmart, KNXV reported.
Rebecca R. Gonzales, 27, was charged with aggravated assault, KTVK reported.
According to court documents, Gonzales went to the Phoenix store to pick up her 7-year-old son, who was being used to watch for store officials while his grandmother was shoplifting.
After Gonzales took her son to the store’s parking lot, officers said they saw her spank, slap and then punch the child in the parking lot, according to court documents.
The boy allegedly told police he was hit because “he didn't watch out for his grandma good enough," according to the documents.
Gonzales is due back in court for a hearing April 30, KTVK reported.
