2 people taken to hospital after car crashes into Springfield home

SPRINGFIELD — UPDATE @ 3:01 p.m.

Two women have been transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center, one via CareFlight, after crashing into a Springfield home.

According to Springfield Fire Department officials,  the driver of the car that crashed into the house ran a stop sign at the intersection of Balsam Drive and Cookston Drive before crashing. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

FIRST REPORT: 

One woman is injured and another woman is still trapped in a car that crashed into a home on Balsam Drive in Springfield, Friday afternoon.

Springfield police are on scene and one police officer can been seen holding the car in place to prevent further injuries to the woman trapped inside.

At this time it is not known what caused the crash or if any occupants were inside the residence at the time of the crash.

Balsam Drive is currently shut down in both directions. We are on scene and working to learn more information.
