Fire consumes vacant Dayton home

UPDATE @ 10 a.m.

The house was vacant and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

The homeowner is believed to have died about a year ago, according to a fire official.

No one was injured. Firefighters doused a neighboring business that was closed, Oxford Food Mart, to prevent flames from catching on the building.

Smoke and flames were reported at a vacant house in the area of Oxford Avenue and Rosedale Drive in Dayton.

Crews were dispatched at 8:12 a.m.

Black smoke rising from that location can be seen from the highway.
