Lawsuit: Florida surgeon removed woman’s kidney by mistake

A surgeon in Florida recently settled a lawsuit stemming from his mistaken removal of a woman's kidney during an April 2016 back surgery. Dr. Ramon Vazquez, a general surgeon, removed what he thought was a cancerous mass in Maureen Pacheco's pelvic area. It turned out to be her left kidney.
