Georgia mom charged with murder in death of 2-year-old son

WORTH COUNTY, Ga. — A Georgia mother is facing a felony murder charge in the death of her 2-year-old son, authorities said.

According to WMAZ and WALB, authorities on Friday arrested Chassity Nicole Swain, 21, of Sylvester, in connection with the November death of Joshua Swain.

On Nov. 13, Worth County sheriff's deputies discovered the boy dead at a Lovett Road home, the news outlets reported. A Georgia Bureau of Investigation autopsy ruled the death a "homicide caused by severe injuries," WMAZ reported.

Swain, who also faces a child cruelty charge, remains jailed without bond, according to the Worth County Sheriff's Office website.

Authorities also have issued a warrant for 45-year-old Willie James Rhodes Jr. in connection with the case, the outlets reported. He is wanted on second-degree murder and child cruelty charges, officials said.
