Trying to stay calm as the world continues social-distancing efforts during the coronavirus pandemic? Sir Patrick Stewart may have just what you need.
The video, which featured “Sonnet 116,” quickly went viral, with more than 10,000 retweets and 50,000 likes by Tuesday morning.
On Sunday, Stewart shared another video – this one featuring Shakespeare’s “Sonnet 1."
"I was delighted by the response to yesterday's posting of Shakespeare's 'Sonnet 116,' and it has led me to undertake what follows," he wrote.
“When I was a child in the 1940s, my mother would cut up slices of fruit for me (there wasn’t much) and as she put it in front of me she would say, ‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away.’ How about, ‘A sonnet a day keeps the doctor away’?”
A third video, posted Monday, featured the iconic British actor reading “Sonnet 2.”
“This is one of my favorites,” he wrote, tagging the post #ASonnetADay – an indication that the daily videos will continue.
