NEW CARLISLE — A woman trying to go on a trip said her passport came in with the wrong photo on it.
Emerald Bilbrey of New Carlisle decided to get a jump on planning for a cruise with her husband by obtaining her passport last Fall. She went to the Fairborn post office to have her picture taken after making application online.
She was informed the post office camera wasn’t working and to have it taken at an area pharmacy that provides photo services. When Bibrey finished the process, all there was to do was wait for the passport to arrive in the ail.
It finally came, though with the wrong picture was attached, she said.
Bilbrey took the time to track down the woman in the picture via social media. Together they figured out the mistake must have happened at the Fairborn post office where they both went on the same day to get a passport photo.
Bilbrey says she’s working to get a corrected passport picture and is glad that this is a mistake that didn’t happen to less than honest people.
“An investigation between the Fairborn Post Office and the State Department has been unable to conclude where the error in processing occurred,” U.S. Postal Service official David Van Allen said today. “Regardless, if the affected customers turn in their current passports at the Fairborn Post Office and resubmit their applications, they will receive corrected passports at no cost.”
