NASA to provide live stream of Mercury transit

Mercury passes between the Earth and the sun

It will take the planet Mercury a little over seven hours to cross in front of the sun today, and NASA is providing a live stream of the event.

The transit, when a planet crosses in front of a star, is rare, happening about 13 times every one hundred years. The next transit of Mercury will occur Nov. 11, 2019.

Cloud cover will block our view, but you should never look directly at the sun anyways.
