The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office called off a missing-person alert Friday after the teen was located.
The sheriff’s office cancelled the alert concerning Weslie Long, 13, at 1 p.m. after she was located and found safe, according to a press release.
The sheriff’s office’s alert Thursday stated the girl was last seen in Christiansburg on Aug. 28. Sheriff Matt Melvin said Thursday his office was contacted on Sept. 4 by counselors at Graham Local Schools who advised she had been absent from school for five days.
The alert sent out to residents stated that she was reportedly traveling with a male named Charles Alexander who was driving a red Ford Taurus.
As of Friday afternoon, Champaign County Sheriff’s Investigators were following up an investigation into the incident.
