Woman found dead in backyard of home in Dayton

DAYTON — A woman was found dead in the backyard of a house on Otterbein Avenue in Dayton and now police are investigating what led to her death, according to dispatch records.

Dayton police responded to the 3600 block of Otterbein around 1:30 p.m. Sunday and discovered Valentina Thornton, 51, dead, according to a Dayton police report.

According to the report, Thornton’s death is being investigated as a homicide, however the coroner’s office has not yet ruled on the cause and manner of her death.
