MIAMI TOWNSHIP — A Miamisburg woman is still shaken over what she says happened at the Dayton Mall on Sunday.
Emily Kirkendall told News Center 7′s Molly Koweek she was in the food court with her husband and son when she noticed two men— one she said was staring her down. She didn’t think much of it until she saw them again at Hot Topic.
“All of a sudden I heard one of them say, ‘we can snatch him right here,’” Kirkendall said. The other one said, ‘yeah but it has to be quick,’ and then it was just an immediate, grabbed his hand, I looked at my husband and I just felt like all of my blood rush. It was the worst feeling.”
It’s a moment replaying in her head.
“And then it’s I should have done more, I should have said something, I should have taken a picture of them, I should have been loud about it, but it’s for me, it’s just making sure I got my son away from them as quick as possible,” Kirkendall said.
She ended up talking to both mall security and Miami Township police.
In a Facebook post, the department said officers tried to find the men but they had left the area.
“No abduction or attempted abduction took place. However, if your mom or dad alarm is going off don’t ignore it,” the department said.
The department added that Kirkendall did everything right.
A Miami Township spokesperson told me News Center 7 the case is closed, but officers didn’t arrest anyone.
Even though nothing came of her report, Kirkendall is still glad she took it to police.
The department says anyone with information about what happened is asked to contact Officer Green at 937-296-2558.
