NEW: Harrison Twp. senior home official responds to patient abuse allegation

UPDATE @ 5:02 p.m.: Officials with a Harrison Twp. senior center immediately took action when an allegation of patient abuse surfaced, the center's executive director said in a statement to News Center 7.

“When we learned of the abuse of our resident on Aug. 18, 2018, we immediately contacted the family, the state and suspended the employee pending investigation,” Deirdre Middlestetter, executive director at Spring Hills Singing Woods said.

“The care and safety of all the residents at Spring Hills Singing Woods Assisted Living is our utmost priority. We are pleased to hear that justice is being served,” she said.

A Dayton woman is facing a felony charge of patient abuse stemming from a 2018 case at a Harrison Twp. senior center.

Shianna Bailey, 39, was indicted Tuesday by a Montgomery County grand jury, records show.

Bailey is accused of hitting a resident at Spring Hills Singing Woods assisted senior living facility on Aug. 18, 2018, the indictment read.

Bailey was an aide at the facility on East Woodbury Drive and News Center 7 has requested a comment from the senior center.

Bailey has been ordered into court for arraignment on March 10.

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office is the investigating agency on the case.
