West Carrollton infant death: Social worker says doctors ‘concerned’ about brain bleed

WEST CARROLLTON — UPDATE @ 12:07 p.m. (March 14)

A non-emergency call to speak to an officer came from Dayton Children’s Hospital around 8:50 p.m. March 12 regarding a 10-day-old baby with an injury.

"The doctors have some concern for non-accidental trauma. There's a bleed on the brain and I need to file a report with an officer,” said the hospital’s social worker.

The baby later died.

West Carrollton police Deputy Chief David Wessling said Wednesday the baby’s death is still not being labeled suspicious. He said the department will rely on the coroner’s official autopsy report, which is not complete.

The autopsy report is still pending and no preliminary cause and manner of death has been released.

Wessling said detectives have conducted some interviews but the case, including where the baby resided, is still under investigation.
