DAYTON — A Dayton tow truck company has become a victim of thieves stealing vehicles from the property.
The four-day crime spree cost Sandy’s Towing tens of thousands of dollars. But video surveillance shows how much the situation almost cost one employee.
On July 30, the last night the lot was broken into, a suspect driving one of the stolen vehicles slammed the fencing and almost hit an employee.
Security footage shows headlights approach the gate before the vehicle plows through the 19-acre lot’s fence.
The driver almost hits the employee on his way off the property.
Shortly after, footage shows an employee chasing the vehicle on foot.
One of the owners at Sandy’s Towing said that four juveniles followed one of the employees out of the gate at 2 a.m. the first night the lot was targeted.
Investigators did not find any damage to exterior fences at the lot, and the stolen vehicles were recovered.
While the entire property is surrounded by fencing, bright lights and security cameras, the owners had to put money back into the property to prevent the incidents from happening again.
