Versailles Rehabilitation and Healthcare celebrates caregivers, community

VERSAILLES — The Versailles Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center has taken advantage of the eased COVID-19 restrictions and spent the week putting on activities to celebrate their staff of caregivers, as well as the community.

Kim Fair, the facility’s Activity Director, told News Center 7′s James Rider said the celebration, which coincides with National Skilled Nursing Care Week, came together after new health guidance allowed more people to gather outside. Additionally, families were allowed back in the facility, with each resident being able to have two visitors at a time.

A popular activity came when the residents and staff got a visit from some of their pets, as well as animals from the Darke County Humane Society. Fair said the activity brought a lot of joy to everyone at the facility.

“The animals really get you through a lot. This last year has been rough on everybody so a lot of us did go to our animals for support and they’ve been with us through the whole year,” Fair said.

The rehab center will continue their “Together Through the Seasons” celebration through the weekend. Fair said the activities were meant to celebrate life throughout the entire community.

“Community has done so much for us this last year and all the time. I’m so proud of everybody and everything,” Fair said.
