UPDATE @ 3:25 p.m. (Nov. 7):
Police believe a 19-year-old driver fell asleep behind the wheel before crashing an SUV into a house in Troy Tuesday night.
The driver, identified by Troy police as Austin Melvin, of Fletcher, was cited for failure to control in the crash.
Melvin hit a tree and two parked cars before crashing into the wall of the home on Shaftsbury Road, narrowly missing a woman sitting inside the house.
No one was injured in the crash.
UPDATE @ 10:10 p.m. (Nov. 6):
The SUV knocked over trees, slammed through the garage and an interior wall, coming within a few feet of striking the female resident, Troy police said.
We’re hearing the woman told fire officials she was experiencing chest pain and wanted to go to a hospital.
According to fire officials, the house has been deemed structurally sound.
INITIAL REPORT
A vehicle has hit a house in the 100 block of Shaftsbury Road in Troy.
The incident was reported just after 8:30 p.m.
We’re hearing the vehicle hit the garage door, continued through a wall and ended up in the living room.
