Vacant house catches fire in Trotwood

Firefighters were called to a fire early this evening at a vacant home.

The single-story home in the 4800 block of Marburn Avenue was about 50 percent engulfed when firefighters arrived just after 6:30 p.m., Trotwood Fire Department Battalion Chief Brandon Barnett said.

"It started in the front room," Barnett said, however the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

The home wasn't furnished, and has been vacant for about six years. It is not habitable following the fire, Barnett said.

There were no injuries to responding firefighters, and the fire was under control within about 10 minutes of arrival. Crews were on scene for about an hour and 20 minutes, Barnett said.

It will now be up to the city's code enforcers to determine whether the house should be scheduled for demolition, Barnett said.
