Warrant issued after 2 critically hurt in Dayton shooting

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 4:01 p.m. (Nov. 16)

An arrest warrant has been issued for a 31-year-old Atlanta man wanted in connection to a double shooting on Riverside Drive in Dayton.

Mychael Jenkins, 31, is wanted by Dayton police for four counts of felonious assault and a weapons charge, records show.

Jenkins was at the apartment with the female victim, Haley Daniels, when Daniels’ boyfriend, TeeJay Byrd, showed up to pick up some shoes for work, police said.

While Daniels answered the door, she had Jenkins hide in the closet, court documents read.

“Byrd went straight to the bedroom,” investigators wrote in an affidavit filed in Dayton Municipal Court. “When he opened the door, Jenkins shot him multiple times and then shot Daniels when she would not stop screaming.”

Jenkins is 5-foot-6 with black hair, brown eyes and weighs around 130 pounds, police said.

Investigators said Jenkins fled the apartment and has not been seen since. Detectives said he left behind his car keys, wallet, suitcase and coat, court documents read.

Anyone who knows any information about Jenkins’ whereabouts can contact Dayton police at 333-COPS or 222-STOP.
