UPDATE: 1 cited for underage alcohol sales, another cited for fake ID

BEAVERCREEK — UPDATE @3:30 p.m.

The Shell Service Station in Beavercreek did not sell alcohol to an underage informant Friday, police said today, correcting information released earlier this week.

Only an employee at Hanes Corner Carryout was cited.

An individual who bought alcohol with a fraudulent ID at the Shell was cited and released.

FIRST REPORT

Beavercreek police cited employees at two area businesses for underage alcohol sales during liquor enforcement compliance checks Friday.

Officers went to 10 businesses throughout Beavercreek with a confidential informant attempting to purchase alcohol, according to police.

Businesses included gas stations, convenient marts, drive-throughs and liquor stores.

At two of the business, employees sold to the informant, were cited and released.

Those businesses were the Hanes Corner Carryout and the Shell on Dayton-Xenia Road.

“Beavercreek Police Department has a zero tolerance for underage alcohol violations,” said Chief Dennis Evers. “Enforcement efforts throughout the year are designed to protect our youth and our community.”

Police partnered with the Ohio Investigative Unit for the compliance checks. The OIU will send letters to the business found to be in compliance.

“We would recommend for those businesses not in compliance to take the necessary steps to train their employees on the law and the potential penalties if they don't comply with the law,” said Evers.

Anyone with information on underage alcohol sales should contact police at 937-426-1225.
