Damage in CARSTAR fire in Troy could top $1 million

UPDATE @ 3:02 p.m. (Feb. 28): Troy firefighters said they wouldn't be surprised if the damage from the CARSTAR fire tops a million dollars.

The cause is listed as undetermined but is not suspicious, investigators said.

The fire occurred in the southeast corner of the business near two paint operations at the facility.  Five RVs were being held at the location to be painted.

The business’ owner hopes to be back to normal operations by the end of the week.

The CARSTAR auto body repair shop in Troy is on fire and several crews are working to put out the flames.

Crews from Troy, Covington and Piqua were dispatched sometime after 6:30 p.m. to the business, 15 S. Kings Chapel Drive, on a report of a commercial structure fire with heavy smoke coming from the back of the property.

The fire was contained to the back of the building, which also houses Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Both businesses were closed at the time of the fire.

No injuries have been reported.

We will update this developing report as we get information.
