Trooper saves 91-year-old woman from tornado-damaged home in Celina

CELINA — An Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper was able to climb through a broken window of a home damaged by a tornado and help an 91-year-old woman.

According to OSP, trooper Jonathan Coffey was flagged down by a citizen who said the victim as still in their residence and was needing medical attention. Coffey used his cruiser’s first aid kid to apply gauze and tape to the woman’s injuries and called for a squad.

He remained with the victim, keeping her calm, until the squad arrived.

An EF-3 tornado was roughly six miles through Celina and had a maximum width of 200 yards.
