DAYTON — A Dayton family had to lay their 8-year-old daughter to rest Friday, after she died when police said she went under in the Mad River June 26th.

“Difficult, difficult day for them,” Pastor Juan Manuel Chavez said.

He has worked with Nora Leticia Coy Cal’s family ever since they moved to the Dayton area two years ago.

Chavez said, the family is actively involved at Iglesia Apoltolica Betesda, where people gathered for Nora’s funeral Friday.

“It’s very difficult for them. They are in deep pain. They are crying a lot. They cannot sleep,” Chavez said.

He remembers Nora as a smiling little girl who was always ready to help.

“She was a good example for all the kids. She was nice in school. She was nice in church. She was nice with her family,” Chavez said. “She was a sweet, sweet girl with a sweet heart. She was a very, very special girl.”

Nora left behind her parents and her four siblings.
