Suspect in Seattle-area homicide arrested in raid on Dayton home

A 25-year-old man arrested Wednesday in a raid on a home in the 1700 block of Xenia Avenue in Dayton is wanted in the killing of a motel clerk in a Seattle suburb.

Dayevion Royalston was apprehended on a parole violation and a detainer from the King County Sheriff's Office.

King County sheriff's detectives will travel here for an extradition hearing to return Royalston to SeaTac, an inner-ring suburb of Seattle.

Several members of the Dayton Police Department, FBI, Safe Streets Task Force and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office descended on the home, with weapons drawn, late Wednesday afternoon.

Sheriff Phil Plummer said King County sheriff's officials called his office to relay information that the suspect had associates in Dayton. That information pointed local authorities to a woman living at the Xenia Avenue address, Plummer said.

Royalston is wanted in the shooting death of a motel clerk in the city of SeaTac early on June 16.

According to The Seattle Times and other news reports in that area, a shuttle driver pulled up to the America's Best Value, south of the Sea-Tac Airport, and found the 40-year-old clerk on the floor and bleeding about 11:15 p.m.

The sheriff's office has not released any information about what led to the killing.
