UD student, 19, reportedly raped near campus, retail area

DAYTON — A 19-year-old University of Dayton student was reportedly raped near campus and the University Place retail plaza Saturday, according to public records obtained by News Center 7.

A non-emergency call obtained through a public records request detailed what the 19-year-old told medical professionals at Miami Valley Hospital.

“She is a UD student and was at (a restaurant) on Brown Street, so I’m assuming it was somewhere around here in Dayton.” the nurse told emergency dispatchers.  “The car was parked outside of that restaurant.”

The nurse said the 19-year-old was intoxicated.

According the call, the teen said she believes she left her phone in the car.

A Dayton police report shows the incident happened in the 1200 block of Brown Street.

The details of what exactly led to the reported rape are not clear.

University officials said Thursday they did not send a message to those on campus because the initial information indicated the location of the reported incident was unknown.

“Since then, Dayton police, who are continuing to investigate, have confirmed the reported rape did not occur at University Place,” UD officials said. They referred additional questions to Dayton police.

Dayton police have declined to release any information on their investigation outside of an initial incident report.
