Cats rescued from garage fire that spread to Harrison Twp. home

HARRISON TWP. — UPDATE @ 7:45 a.m: Two cats were rescued from an attached garage where a fire was reported on Klepinger Road Friday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the 4000 block and found heavy flames coming from the garage area around 6:30 a.m., per initial reports.

The fire did spread to the house, causing damage to the side where the garage attaches. Damage estimates were not immediately available.

Firefighters were to able to rescue two of the three cats that were inside the garage. The cat who was unaccounted for is believed to have escaped and ran away.

The home’s residents were not injured in the fire.

Investigators were called to determine the cause of the fire, which officials say is not suspicious.
