WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE — Unlike last weekend that dealt with the remnants of Gordon, this weekend is looking a lot quieter in the Miami Valley, Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini said.
Wet weather from the remnants of Florence are expected to stay to the south through the weekend, however runners should be prepared for warm and muggy conditions.
“Keep in mind, not only will it be very humid, the pollen count will also be elevated,” Zontini said.
FRIDAY: Hot and humid conditions are expected for the 5k Friday. There will be a good amount of sunshine with a few clouds. Temperatures near race-time will be around the middle 80s, but he heat index will make it feel closer to 90 degrees. There will be a chance for a stray shower but the chance is low.
SATURDAY: Some fog is expected in the morning of the marathon and could cause you a delay getting to the event early, Zontini said. The race will start with temperatures in the upper 60, but once the sun comes up, temperatures will heat up quickly.
It will likely reach the middle to upper 70s when the race ends but it will be muggy. Highs for the day will reach the middle 80s.
