State troopers indentify victim in deadly crash on I-70 near Richmond, WB 70 has reopened

RICHMOND — UPDATE @ 3:15 PM:

The westbound lanes of I-70 have reopened after a fatal crash this morning.

Around 9:15 a.m., police were dispatched to a crash involving a semi-tractor, pulling a flatbed trailer, and a passenger car.

The tractor, driven by Rodney P. Williams, 45, of New Jersey stopped suddenly and the other driver, James Dean Alcorn, 48, of Richmond, Indiana struck the rear of the semi, pinning the Ford under the trailer.

A Wayne County coroner pronounced Alcorn dead on scene.

INITIAL REPORT:

The westbound lanes of I-70 are closed west of the U.S. 27 exit in Richmond after a deadly crash on the highway this morning, state troopers said.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 9:15 a.m.

Traffic was still being diverted off the highway and traffic was backed up past the state line and into Preble County.

Additional details on the crash are expected to be released later this afternoon.
