State trooper cruiser hit on I-75 in Auglaize County

AUGLAIZE COUNTY — A state trooper's cruiser was struck while he was investigating a crash on I-75 in Auglaize County Sunday night after a driver approaching the crash lost control on the highway, the patrol said.

Trooper Wesley Ditto, 36, was investigating a crash about six miles north of Wapakoneta on the northbound side of the highway around 9 p.m.

"While scanning his mirrors, he noticed a black Honda approach him from the rear, quickly," the patrol said in a related.

The driver of the Honda, Clinton Anderston, 32, of Fairfield, tried to move to the right lane to avoid striking the cruiser, which was blocking the left lane, and suddently started spinning out of control.

"Trooper Ditto attempted to move his cruiser out of the way, but was struck in the right rear of his vehicle," troopers said.

No one was injured.

Anderson was issued a citation for failure to control.
