MIAMI COUNTY — A standoff ended peacefully with no shots fired Saturday evening as a 61-year-old Beavercreek Twp. man surrendered after 12 hours near West Milton.
The standoff started around 5 a.m. following a “slow” speed pursuit on Frederick-Garland Road between State Route 48 and Mote Road. The county SWAT Team was activated.

The man, currently undergoing a mental evaluation at a hospital, put his gun down and gave himself up.
The troubled individual is reportedly a retired military serviceman, according to Miami County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Steve Lord.
He held himself at bay in his four door automobile.
