Standoff damage: Who is responsible for repairs?

HARRISON TWP. — An hourslong standoff Tuesday left an Oneida Avenue house with broken windows and a huge hole upstairs.

While the standoff is over and the suspect is in custody, the damage to the Harrison Twp. house remains, prompting the question: Who is responsible for repairs?

For some residents, the answer was clear: the city.

It turns out that the city — or township — is not responsible.

Instead, the offender is responsible for footing the repair bill.

That can making recovering that money difficult for some homeowners.

News Center 7’s Adam Marshall is digging deeper, and he found out that cities and townships do have some responsibility.

Tune in at 5 p.m. for those answers.
