Springfield police investigate theft at Holiday Inn Express

Springfield police are investigating after a man stole a money box from behind the front desk of the Holiday Inn Express on Raydo Circle, according to a police report.

Officers responded to the business around 5:20 a.m. Friday after an employee reported the theft.

According to the report, the employee said a man pulled up in a gray Ford Taurus and exited the vehicle with a hoodie on tied tightly around his face.

The man entered the front entrance of the hotel and jumped the front counter. After grabbing the money box, the thief fled the business.

Police are working to get a copy of any surveillance video from the incident.
